Monastery Timber Frame, Day 18-19

Below is a brief sketch detailing a few aspects of the monastery timber frame. The assembly order section doesn't convey the process well in this digital format. The blacks and purples are hard to distinguish between. Perhaps I can find a better method to show our process. If I find the time I will attach an additional illustration explaining further. 

Note, that the mortise and tenon detail does not show how the shoulder and housing elements are dealt with. I didn't want to draw them in without a thorough explanation beside them. Odds are this coming week will have a post delving into how all of the mortise, tenon, shoulder, and housing joints function together. Definitely an aspect worth discussing, just not right now.
