"People first paid honour to a spot and afterwards gained glory for it. Men did not love Rome because she was great. She was great because they had loved her."

Monastery Timber Frame, Day 4-5

Monastery Timber Frame, Day 4-5

Completing the first truss is well within sight now. After five days of work, all this truss lacks is the two jambe braces and a bit of detail work. Even at this incomplete stage the results are pleasing. I think perhaps a sign of a good structure is that it looks good throughout the entire building process. Safe to say, that on Monday we will finish one and begin the next one. Each remaining truss should only take five, or perhaps even four days to put together. In light of the fact that for the next several weeks, one day's progress will look identical to a previous day's, I shall focus on highlighting a particular aspect of the process. Hopefully, such an approach provides further insight into our approach.
