Often, it takes an initial commitment to a particular tool or process before you begin to gain a sense of what actually fits your hand. A master potter once said that to make the best jar you need to make many jars, not simply sit at the wheel and work on one. Jumping straight into making a website is a rather formative and humbling way to learn. Quite literally, a process of schooling one's self. Again, and again, and again. Retooling and correcting from both internal and external feedback. The process begins informing the product and the tools used in production. SquareSpace offers quite a wide array of formats from which to construct a site. Not knowing any better, I started fleshing out my website on one template, then quickly switched to another. For the better part of a year that second template served my needs, but now that the blog space is filling up I am convinced that a better arrangement is necessary. So I am putting another lump of clay on the wheel. I reckon this jar will form up better than the last, and quite possibly will suit my needs for a long while. The coming changes ought to provide a saner form of structure to the blog. It also should be more receptive to featuring guest authors and series of posts. If given the chance, both of these features will foster rich and lively conversation. At any rate, that's my aim.

  Pardon any potential mess or confusion that might crop up during this transition. I am going to do my best to implement these changes with as little interruption to the live site as possible. If you happen upon a glitch in the matrix at least you'll know the reason.
