Craftsmen and respectable tradesmen are dying out. Small wonder when their work receives little to no recognition. Saving these despairing and dying trades might only require giving credit where credit is due. When a thing is good love it, but when it is in disrepair love it all the more.

The architectural community claims a monopoly on the pride that cultivates from the building of a structure. Too long have we neglected the ideas and input of those with boots on the ground. Too long have we, who design, gone without lacing up our boots. Make the bold move and ask the tradesmen for their take on the task at hand. Ask and listen. Listen with ears that are expecting to learn. We need to begin cultivating a building community that possesses an invested interest from all quarters, not just the designers. It's about people, folks. Buildings are for people, it stands to reason that their construction needs to reflect that. Go love and care for the tradesmen.
